The La, Home Board

The Louisiana, Home Board of Directors is a diverse group of exceptional individuals who's interests and talents range from business to history, architecture to medicine, and photography to advertising.

All are young professionals who came together to volunteer their time and devote their skills towards initiating and developing this non-profit organizaiton.

Officers

Jacques LevetJacques Levet, Jr., President, grew up in Garyville, Louisiana on a sugarcane farm formerly known as Emilie Plantation. He graduated from Tulane University in Biomedical Engineering and is currently studying architecture at Notre Dame with a focus in classical design. Since the age of 14, Jacques practiced and studied under numerous award winning photographers. In addition to his academic pursuits, he dedicates his time to exploring Louisiana's architectural past, dedicating his talents towards the interest of the state, and determining ways to make this intriguing history accessible to others.

 

Marc MatranaMarc Matrana, M.D., Vice President, is a New Orleans native and a graduate of Tulane University and the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. Dr. Matrana is currently studying Oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, and as a preservationist and historian, he stays busy with a variety of projects, events, and presentations. Additionally, Dr. Matrana has numerous publications, on both medicine and history, including two books, Lost Plantations of the South and Lost Plantation: The Rise and Fall of Seven Oaks.

 

Maria TownMaria Town, Director of Programming, hails from Baton Rouge and Hammond, Louisiana. She recently moved to Washington D.C. to begin work as a Policy Advisor for the Office of Disability Employment Policy in the Department of Labor. Before moving to our nation's capitol, Maria worked for Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia as a Fellow in the Vice Provost's Office of Community and Diversity. She graduated from Emory in 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology and served as the University-wide Student Government President. Maria hopes that all of this time spent away from her beloved home state will equip her with the necessities to serve Louisiana in the best ways possible upon her return.

 

Molly OehmichenMolly Oehmichen, Director of Development, is a born-but-not-raised New Orleanian who returned to the city in 2004 to attend Tulane University. After receiving her bachelor's degree in 2008, Molly spent two years working at a local non-profit, the Louisiana Public Health Institute. Currently she travels nationwide as a consultant and recently began renovating her first home in the Irish Channel neighborhood of New Orleans. Molly completed her MBA in December of 2010 and will subsequently pursue a PhD in Non-Profit Management.
