About the LA New Guards:

The New Guards of Louisiana is a recognition program for students and young professionals who are involved with and support projects that involve Louisiana history, architecture, and/or culture, and securing the state’s heritage for his or her and future generations. While the immediate protection of material culture is important, it is critical to ensure that we pass down the skills, knowledge, and interest that supports the history and culture we are working to protect and to ensure that these practices are sustained. From this, it is the goal of the Louisiana New Guards to promote youth interest and engagement in Louisiana historic and cultural preservation. Further, by promoting this involvement, the New Guards hopes to develop a cross-generational dialogue to fuel our cultural preservation.
